Christopher Robin Review

Christopher Robin seemed to come out of nowhere from Disney. There were live action Winnie the Pooh rumours for many years, including a terrifying photo of a CGI Pooh Bear floating around social media, and then there was talk about focusing on Christopher Robin and then suddenly these wonderful trailers dropped that piqued every Disney fan’s curiosity. What did happen when Christopher Robin grew up? What happened to those friends in the Hundred Acre Wood?

Christopher Robin did an eloquent job at continuing the story of these beloved characters. Words like heartwarming, whimsical, charming, and delightful are going to be used quite a lot to describe this film over the next few days as Christopher Robin hits theatres. The entire audience would let out an “Aww” every time that Winnie the Pooh was on screen. But the film was so much more than that. I was surprised at how much was geared towards adults and not children. Don’t get me wrong, children will definitely enjoy it but the entire premise of an adult getting so caught up in the demands of life that he needs his memories of his simple childhood to realize what is truly important is only something an adult can relate to. Christopher Robin really has a strong moral in making the most of each day of your life and spending time in the moment with your family and friends. This film also really appealed to adults in a nostalgia sense. Winnie the Pooh was a large part of many people’s childhoods and they spent time in the Hundred Acre Wood themselves through stories and movies. Or people like me who never really grew out of Winnie the Pooh, really enjoyed a brand new story with these characters.

All of the sappy stuff aside, Christopher Robin is hilarious! I don’t know who had the better one-liners, Winnie the Pooh or Eeyore but everyone was laughing at pretty much everything these two would say. I was not expecting so much humour but I am sure glad it was there.

So grab some hunny, some tissues, and your family and friends and head out to see Christopher Robin. The movie will definitely leave a smile on your face.

Oh, and make sure to stay through the credits.

  1. Great review! I agree, I loved the comical parts as well as the heart felt. Im loving the live action style Disney is adventuring in to.
