Star Wars: Force Collector is about Karr, a teenager boy sensitive to the Force, who is able to experience visions of the past by touching certain objects related to the Jedi and their stories.

When does Force Collector take place?
Around the same time as The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in the year 34 ABY.
Synopsis:
Karr Nuq Sin has always known he was different. He frequently experiences headaches and blackouts when he touches certain historical objects. His parents think it’s because he is sick; his grandmother knows it’s because he is sensitive to the Force. She knows very little about the Jedi but what she does, she passes on to her grandson.
After Karr’s grandmother passes away, he sets out on a mission across the galaxy with Maize, a new friend from school, and RZ-7, his best friend and droid, to discover more about the history of the Jedi and how it relates to his unusual abilities.

Along with Star Wars: Resistance Reborn, Force Collector is part of the new Journey to The Rise of Skywalker series and this book definitely made me very excited for the upcoming movie! There were some details in the story which I hope are hints and clues towards what will happen in The Rise of Skywalker. Only a few more weeks until I find out!
I really enjoyed Force Collector. It weaves together all three film trilogies and seems like it’s getting ready to set up an epic finale to the Skywalker saga. There are many connections to the entire canon, but it is not necessary to read the other novels before reading Force Collector. Something I really enjoyed was the planet-hopping as they visited already known planets such as Jakku, Utapau, Takodana, and an Oba Diah moon. I often find Star Wars movies and books create all new planets for one story, so it was nice to return to some familiar ones.
The main characters were all new to the Star Wars galaxy with very few returning side characters. The dynamic between the three main characters was well written. Maize’s adventuresome spirit was in balance with Karr’s caution and who doesn’t love a droid with a sense of humor? Maize’s descriptions of the Jedi were always entertaining (laser space knights, intergalactic sorcery monks, magical army of space wizards.)
Force Collector is a YA novel and is an easy read. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to know about the Jedi or anyone hoping for some added story to The Rise of Skywalker.
